Your baby's Greek Orthodox christening is a once in a lifetime milestone, marking the beginning of their journey of faith and one of the most meaningful days for your family. With extensive experience photographing Greek Orthodox baptisms across London and the UK, I understand the traditions, the order of service and the moments that matter most, allowing you to simply enjoy the day while every detail is beautifully documented.

My Experience

A Greek Orthodox christening is unlike any other celebration. Every part of the service carries deep meaning, from the Declaration and the Πιστεύω (Nicene Creed) through to the triple immersion, Holy Chrismation and Holy Communion. Having photographed christenings in many Greek Orthodox churches across London and throughout the UK, I am familiar with the traditions, the order of service and the individual preferences of different clergy.

This experience allows me to work quietly and respectfully throughout the ceremony, anticipating each important moment before it happens while remaining as unobtrusive as possible.

Before the Service

I usually arrive at the church around 45 to 60 minutes before the service begins. This allows plenty of time for relaxed family portraits before guests arrive and before your baby becomes tired or overwhelmed.

During this time I will photograph your baby with parents, godparents, siblings, grandparents and immediate family, creating timeless portraits before the ceremony begins.

The Baptismal Details

Before the service starts, I will also photograph the beautiful details that make your baby's christening unique, including:

The Baptism Ceremony

My approach throughout the ceremony is natural and documentary, allowing me to capture genuine moments without interrupting the service.

Family Portraits

Once the service has concluded, I will spend some time capturing additional family photographs now that your baby is dressed in their christening gown.

This is the perfect opportunity for photographs with parents, godparents, grandparents, siblings, immediate family and individual portraits of your baby before everyone heads to the reception.

At the Reception

At your reception venue, I will photograph the details that help tell the story of your celebration, including the room setup, table decorations, centrepieces, cake, favours and other carefully planned touches.

There is also time to capture relaxed portraits, family groups and candid moments as your guests begin to celebrate.

Evening Celebrations

If you're planning to continue celebrating into the evening, additional coverage is available.

Rather than charging for the quieter period while guests are seated for their meal, extended coverage begins as the celebrations come to life after the meal, when speeches have concluded and guests begin mingling, dancing and enjoying the party. This ensures you're paying for photography during the most memorable parts of the evening, while still giving you the flexibility to add coverage earlier if you would like photographs throughout the meal, speeches or any other part of your celebration.
